Smart Ball

Created on 21 Nov 2016

Did your ball fly over the fence? Just command it to return back.

Our project is a bouncing ball that can move forward, backward, and sideways. It does not require any physical contact, just a remote control.

Monday: Figure out how to attach the spring system, trigger and pendulum. CAD parts that need to be laser cut. Tuesday: Laser/machine cut parts. Assemble individual parts. Start wiring Arduino and motors. Edit CAD for trigger (increase radius to increase spring’s compressed length).
Jae-Eun (Esther) Lim 19 Jan 2017, 1:33 p.m. EST
Wednesday: Laser cut larger trigger. Hardware. Test the spring system.

Thursday: Attach the trigger and spring system inside the ball. Test runs. Connect to blue tooth. Issues: 1) Balsa is too weak for a spring base. 2) Spring support rods are too short they get stuck to the edge of the bottom cylinders as springs compress. Solutions: 1) Use acrylic spring base. 2) Elongate the bottom cylinders so that the rods are already inside the cylinder when uncompressed.

Friday: Assemble everything together!
